I just got back from a life changing adventure 1/2 way around the world to India. My flight on Etihad Airlines left Chicago at 8:00 PM central time and lasted for 14 hours on a direct flight to Dubai. After a 2 hour layover in Dubai, I was headed over the Indian Ocean to Mumbai for a 5 day diamond buying trip.  I did buy some diamonds; a few have already been sold.

It would be great if most Americans would be able to visit a country like India; we simply do not know how good we have it. I left loving my country and came back loving it even more. India had multiple diverse cultures in plain view.  The people I met were very kind and hospitable to me. A 25 minute taxi cab ride was less than 2 dollars and a 20 oz bottle of Pepsi was less than 35 cents. The roads had everything from buses, cars, horses, cows, carts, pedestrians and up to families of 4 on motorcycles. I saw everything from a Porsche dealership to people living on the street.

Biggest Loser

Our owner, Madison Knight, is participating in a "Biggest Loser Program" at Memorial Health & Lifestyle Center. And his participation has inspired the Van Horne staff to start their own contest. As of January 7, 2011, June, Jeannette, Kevin, Mitch and Madison have started a "Biggest Loser Contest" with Van Horne Jewelers. The contest will last for 6 months, ending on June 2nd, and the winner will receive a dinner for two at restaurant of their choice. Stay tuned to see which "Loser" loses the most weight!

Congratulations to June!

A special congratulations to our Junaida Crow who is from Singapore and is now a US citizen as of December 3, 2010. Junaida has been a world traveler. Before ending up in America, she spent 2 years in England receiving her gemology degree.  Junaida is multilingual, and has traveled throughout the world including the United States, Australia, France, England, Scotland, Czechoslovakia,  Finland, Denmark, India, Nepal, China, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and Japan.

Open House

We are anxiously awaiting our 2010 open house, which will be our 3rd in our new home. This year instead of having one winner, there will be eighteen $100 gift card winners that will be given away hourly starting at 11:00 AM on Friday December 3rd and ending on December 4th at 6:00 PM.
